The Story of Harvest
The first chapter of Harvest began in the early 1980's as Pastor Ollin Collins relocated the congregation of Browning Heights Baptist Church of Haltom City to the current Watauga, TX location. At the time the church changed its name and reconstituted as Harvest. Almost like a word of prophecy, the church owned its new name name in its new season and became a fruitful growing church.
Through the 1990's the church experienced tremendous growth. As the Body increased, several buildings projects and ministries were initiated to keep pace with God's blessing. But as the decade came to and end, the church experienced devastating loss as it worked through the moral collapse of the senior pastor. This led to a number of issues and challenges for the church relating to leadership, integrity, financial debt, loss of membership and a damaged reputation in the community.
The next chapter of Harvest was all about recovery. Led by new Senior Pastor Bill Langley, the church began to take painful and responsible steps to rebuild the church's honor and mission. With a committed core of membership, Harvest has given faithfully, loved generously and walked purposefully. God honored this time of recovery and has preserved the church. There are many miracles that reveal His passion for this place and for these people.
As we enter the next chapter; we sense a mandate from God to make His name glorious through Harvest Church. Like never before, we are poised and pointed toward our community with compassion and understanding. Our story is their story! One that begins with great hope, experiences great hurt, but continues with great help. And, Harvest is here to serve our community and lead them to the One who will forever change their story!
